Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. announced strategic partnerships with Expleo in Tulsa, Okla., and Infosys in Richardson, Texas, to expand the company’s engineering capabilities in Texas and Oklahoma.
Dr. Sean Black, Spirit AeroSystems senior vice president, chief technology officer and chief engineer, said the strategic partnership with Expleo will deliver advanced digital engineering services for major aerospace programs out of a new location in Tulsa. Spirit will leverage the latest digital capabilities, including AI, digital-twin and automation, at the new facility.
Black said that Spirit will also leverage a strategic partnership with Infosys in Richardson, Texas, to create a dedicated center for aeronautical engineering excellence to cover the complete aircraft development life cycle for both new and in-service aircraft.
These partnerships further Spirit’s digitalization efforts and continue to support cost efficiency and accelerated time-to-market for the end customer, he said, all while focusing on quality, delivering on Spirit’s customer-focused support strategy.
Black said that Infosys, which was named as the innovation award winner at Spirit’s 2023 Supplier Conference that was held in August, will work more closely with Spirit to develop cross-functional solutions to pressing business challenges in the aircraft development lifecycle.
“The Center in Richardson will train, upskill, and reskill talent in the technologies required to help Spirit accelerate the digitalization and scaling of aircraft development to meet increasing business demand, while mitigating risks, accelerating time to market, optimizing costs, boosting productivity, and crunching the learning curve,” Black said.
Spirit’s strategic partnership with Expleo will provide direct access to engineering talent in Oklahoma to meet the growing engineering demands for the company’s current customers, positioning Spirit to successfully support future programs, Black said.
“This complements the ongoing investment in talent we are making in our Wichita Center of Excellence, where we have hired over 200 graduate and midcareer engineers in the last year and continue to be laser-focused on engaging the future aerospace leaders of tomorrow,” Black said.
