iNEMI’s End-of-Project Webinar: Extended Reliability Assessment for Electronic Components

Reading time ( words)

Failure of electronic components can be a catastrophic occurrence, or at least a very costly one. When a component fails, it impacts the whole system. The importance of having reliable components becomes even more critical for applications such as medical equipment, automotive, or aerospace and defense.

The main objective of iNEMI’s Extended Reliability Assessment for Electronics Components project is to identify and develop a set of extended reliability assessment methods for electronic components/PCB assemblies used in critical applications and harsh environments. The team is focused on proposing test methodologies or sequences that will accelerate failure detection of faulty components and enable verification cycles to be shortened and improved, saving both time and cost.

Phase 1 of the project identified component-level parts that would be the most valuable to a range of users in the electronics industry. The team considered several possible testing scenarios for these components based on potential use conditions and began identifying ways to conduct testing for extended reliability.

Join iNEMI for this project report-out which will review Phase 1 findings and recommendations as well as identify next steps for Phase 2.

Standards committee work is where much of the heavy lifting takes place for industry standards. To the inexperienced eye, the committee process can also seem as perplexing as it is crucial. In this conversation, Teresa Rowe, IPC’s senior director of assembly and standards technology, highlights what to expect from standards committee sessions at IPC APEX EXPO 2023. New committees, revisions, leadership, awards, and thoughtful pauses to celebrate achieving milestones are all part of the IPC APEX EXPO standards committee experience.

STEM Program: Evolving and Growing

01/16/2023 | Charlene Gunter du Plessis, IPC Education Foundation
IPC has a responsibility to its current members but also in attracting and retaining new talent to the electronics manufacturing industry. This is no more evident than in the STEM event hosted by the IPC Education Foundation at IPC APEX EXPO. For the 2023 event, more than 500 students from nearly a dozen high schools are expected to participate in hands-on activities, touring the show floor, and learning from industry experts. The Career Panel Luncheon will expand across the in-person event as we broadcast and stream to schools across the United States.
