UMS Skeldar Airshow for Scanfil Investors in Sweden

At the beginning of September, Scanfil hosted a factory tour for investors in Åtvidaberg, Sweden. Scanfil Åtvidaberg is a close-to-customer R&D factory, and its strengths are in fast prototyping, new product introduction processes (NPI) and complex system integration.

During the tour, these strengths were seen in practice. UMS Skeldar showcased one of their unmanned aircraft systems called V-200. It is developed and sold by UMS Skeldar, which is a joint venture between Saab and UMS Aero Group, and manufactured by Scanfil in Åtvidaberg.

“It is one of the most complex products we manufacture for our customers”, says Scanfil Åtvidaberg’s Managing Director Steve Creutz. ”Skeldar uses our expertise within serial manufacturing, where our solid standardized quality and manufacturing processes meet the high quality demands from the market. We have worked together for several years with UMS Skeldar. We have continuously improved our setup for serial manufacturing at Scanfil and the final configuration done by UMS Skeldar.”

“Our collaboration with Scanfil has been seamless. They have been able to meet our high standards in quality and keep the manufacturing timetable as agreed”, states Axel Cavalli-Björkman, CEO at UMS Skeldar. “There is an increasing demand for V-200 and growing market opportunity for medium-range unmanned VTOLs.”

Since Scanfil Åtvidaberg is focused on fast prototyping, new product introduction, and complex system integrations, start-ups and the development of new products together with close-by customers are essential parts of Åtvidaberg’s operations.
